German Sustainability Action Days 2024

The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) initiated the German Sustainability Action Days in 2012 on the occasion of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). This year, from September 18 to October 8, 2024, we once again aim to inspire many people to take part in numerous activities to make a statement for a more sustainable world. This year, we are focusing on biodiversity as the main theme of Joint Action for Sustainable Development. Join us!

About the project

Whether it’s the climate crisis, species extinction or social inequality, we are facing major global challenges. The Joint Action for Sustainable Development is an open platform for everyone working towards a sustainable society. Launched by the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), it is based on an initiative from the Federal and Länder Governments. Because we all need to work together if we are to achieve the ambitious sustainability goals!

What happens next

A beta version of the online platform went live in September 2022, boosting visibility for the sustainability activities of organisations from all sectors of society and providing a space for networking. Moving forward, we added further functions, such as an event calendar, an overview of good-practice examples, and open social innovation processes. Help us shape the new functions via our “roadmap”!

Our partners

The four Regional Hubs for Sustainability Strategies (RENN) are central partners for the Joint Action for Sustainable Development in the different German regions. As the Joint Action uses open source, we cooperate with mapping projects that have already done a great deal of groundwork at local level or on specific topics. Major organisations also support the Joint Action for Sustainable Development as network partners.
