The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) launched the German Sustainability Action Days on the occasion of the United Nations World Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in 2012. From 18 September to 08 October 2024, we will encourage many people to set an example for a more sustainable world in numerous actions. We are spotlighting biodiversity as this year's focus topic of the Joint Action for Sustainable Development. Be part of it!
Goal of the Action Days
The Joint Action for Sustainable Development community is active all year round - no question about it. However, the goal of the Action Days is to make exemplary commitment visible throughout Germany within a certain period of time, to attract public attention to the topic of sustainability, and to encourage more people to act sustainably. Everyone can change something for the better! The more people participate, the stronger the signal we send out together with the Action Days.
And this signal is sent out internationally: Since 2015, the Action Days have been part of the European Sustainable Development Week, an initiative launched by Germany, France and Austria in which people from all over Europe can participate. By participating in the German Sustainability Action Days, you automatically take part in the European Sustainable Development Week as well. At the same time, a cooperation with the UN SDG Action Campaign alows your actions to be count in the Global Week to Act for SDGs and visualized on their world map - without any additional effort for you as participants.

Actions for sustainability attract more attention if as many people as possible participate. That is why we focus on networking and cooperation with other actors in the field of sustainability. With the #gemeinsamfuermorgen campaign, we are working with our partners to ensure that sustainable action ideas are implemented and noticed.
